The kids were relieved to have had a
good night sleep, spew free and to wake up at Debs place with their
cousins around. Although Tal was away on school camp, Lior had just
finished exams and was staying home for the day. They were also
excited to see their new baby cousin Ari who was only 7 weeks old.
Our first day was just spent relaxing,
refuelling, playing FIFA and watching a bit of TV. Ari and Jess came
over which was great. The kids were so excited to finally meet him
after many weeks of seeing photos of him with other people. He was
absolutely gorgeous and Rubes was particularly taken by him. Jess
looked like she hadn’t even had a baby and was doing an amazing job
as a new mum.
Close to Debs place was a great indoor
bounce centre where trampolines filled the warehouse and the kids
moved around different stations to try various activities. It was
great fun and the kids had a ball jumping with Lior. Oscar flipping
in the air, Jem doing rollies and Rubes finally getting the guts to
somersault into the foam. A stop at McDonalds on the way home
(disgusting) and it was a fun day had by all. On return to Debs place the annual Rath and Kalisse soccer game commenced with the kids donning their soccer attire for the game (Rath children knowing nothing about the game).
Just by co-incidence our good friends
Simon, Sara and their kids were visiting Melbourne from Israel and we
managed to catch up with them a few times as well. It was wonderful
to spend time with them and for our children to play together. Josh
spent Thursday having lunch with Simon and was able to go to one of
his gigs at Bennets Lane.
Thursday evening we decided to spend
the night at Dan and Jess’s. We ordered Japanese takeaway which the
kids hadn’t eaten for a while, enjoyed bathing and playing with
Ari. Trace was getting clucky so handed him back after many cuddles.
Josh went later in the evening to see our friend Simon play a jazz
gig, luckily he came home just in time as Jem, Ruby and soon after
Oscar awoke vomiting again. Just when we thought we were past the
sickness of Perth, it began again.
We sat the morning out at Dan and
Jess’s place until the kids felt better and then went back to Deb’s
to rest again for the day. Tal was also coming home from school camp
so Rubes was excited to see her. We had a lovely dinner on Friday
night with Deb, Hen and the kids as well as Dan, Jess and Ari.
Saturday saw Deb and Trace on their
annual shopping expedition, Josh, Dan, Jess and Jem went clothes
shopping. Jem had
managed to convince his Auntie and Uncle to get him more lego for his
birthday and some new clothes. The $240 Junior Armani vest which he
liked wasn’t quite what we needed for our trip around Australia,
but he purchased many other fine garments. It was obvious that Dan
and Jem have many similarities when it comes to upmarket fashion. Hen took the other kids down to the beach and the Rath children had their annual measure up at Debs place and to everyones surprise they had all actually grown.
Another relaxing evening at Debs place,
the kids had a ball playing together and Trace and Deb enjoying each
other’s company.
Unfortunately Josh had to leave on
Sunday to head to Sydney for a bit of work. A quick BBQ at Dan and
Jess on Sunday with all the family, another play with little Ari and
Josh was off. Trace and the kids caught up with Nay, Tan and Jackie
(friends from our childhood) which was lovely and the rest of our
time in Melbourne was just as nice. A quick break spending time with
family and we were on our way back to Perth to stay with our friends
Mel and Mark for another few days whilst waiting for Josh.
Back in Perth and it was as if we hadn’t left. Actually Mel
and the family were once again very excited to have us back and had cleared
their calendar to take us out again. We spent another day at the Fremantle
markets which was great, a day at Scitech with the kids rediscovering why science
is really quite fun and a very interesting visit to the Perth Mint where the
kids saw a gold pour, got a souvenir coin made of our trip and held a very
heavy gold nugget.
But the most exciting night out was an adults only night of
dinner, wine and good company at the local pub with Mel, Mark and a friend of
theirs, unfortunately Josh was still in Sydney. The kids having their first
ever babysitter which was a good experience for all.
Finally Josh came back and it was really time to leave. We
had certainly enjoyed their hospitality and would always be grateful to them.
Hopefully one day we can repay them for their kindness.
